How Monkey Knife Fight Works

What makes Monkey Knife Fight unique to the DFS world is that there is no setting lineups or salary caps. Instead it is mostly a combination of player props and parlays.

You can wager anywhere from $2 to $1000 on each game and if you win you receive a multiplier of your wager. The harder the game, the higher the multiplier. It’s as simple as that.

As you can see from the screenshot above, most MKF contests pay out between around 3 times your wager, but there are larger contests that will pay out 100-500 times your entry, but as anyone who plays parlays regularly will tell you, winning the high risk high payout contests is not easy.

How To Play Monkey Knife Fight Contests

Now that we know how Monkey Knife Fight works, let’s break it down a little more by taking a look at some of the different types of contests they offer.

Although there are a few specialty contests offered now and again, the main three types of contests MKF offers are:

• Fantasy Challenge

Let’s take a look at how to play each type of contest in a little more detail.

More or Less

To play MKF’s More or Less you simply choose whether a player will have more or less than the given target number.

The target may either be a part of the game – for example the number of strikeouts thrown or touchdowns scored – or the number of fantasy points scored by that player on a given slate.

For example let’s take a look at this pitching matchup.

For this More or Less contest you simply need to decide whether Milwaukee’s Freddy Peralta will have more or less than 7.5 strikeouts against the Cubs, and Chicago’s Lucas Giolito will have more or less than 6.5 strikeouts against the Twins.

To win you’ll need to get both guesses right, and in this example if you guess correctly you’d win 3 times your wager.

More Or Less – Fantasy Points

If you’re looking for something a little more challenging than a single stat category, Monkey Knife Fight also has a More or Less games featuring fantasy points.

Rather than focusing on one type of stat – strikeouts, points, touchdowns, etc – this version of More or Less focuses on the player’s full fantasy production. Obviously this requires a little more calculation on your end, but can certainly make things more fun for those looking for a challenge.

For this contest you need to decide whether both Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson will compile more than 330.5 fantasy points for the entire season.

Monkey Knife Fight Fantasy Scoring

MKF’s fantasy point scoring aligns with most season long fantasy scoring as you can see from the example below for an NFL contest.

Rapid Fire

Unlike More or Less where you predict a player’s outcome based on a stat or fantasy total, MKF’s Rapid Fire game lets you compare two players and choose which of two will do better than the other in a stat category or score more fantasy points on that slate.

Here’s an example of a 3 player Rapid Fire contest on Monkey Knife Fight…

As you can see from the example you simply choose which player you think will score more in each category.

To make things a bit more challenging you’ll also notice that in these contests some players will have a bonus attached to them. In this example Nola gets a 0.5 strikeout bonus, so you’ll want to be sure you factor those into your analysis as well.

As with the More or Less contests, the more players involved in your contest the higher the payout, ranging anywhere from 2 to 8+ players per contest.

Fantasy Challenge

The last type of Monkey Knife Fight contest is Fantasy Challenge, my personal favorite.

With Fantasy Challenge you are simply given three totals and you need to choose three players to exceed that total. The higher the goal you exceed, the higher the payout up to 5x your wager.

Since this contest has a more traditional DFS feel, I have a feeling more hardcore Fanduel and DraftKings players will like this one a lot more than the other simplistic types of contests.

How To Get Paid – Deposits and Withdrawals

Monkey Knife Fight Review – Is It Legit?

Overall I think Monkey Knife Fight is a fun platform especially for DFS players who simply don’t have the time to set a lineup and configure a salary cap. Despite its simplicity it’s really challenging, especially for contests with more players involved – just ask anyone who bets regularly how difficult it is to hit a large parlay.

What I Like About MKF

My favorite part about Monkey Knife Fight is the simplicity that it offers. When you’re playing FanDuel or DraftKings it really does take a long time to research daily matchups, figure out which players are starting, optimize your lineup to fit under a cap and on top of it worry about ownership percentages. With MKF you only need to worry about the player’s matchup, which should really be the point of fantasy sports.

As I mentioned earlier my personal favorite is the Fantasy Challenge contest because it leans a little more closely to traditional fantasy, but it also takes a little more time so I could see those shore on time appreciating the simpler More or Less and Rapid Fire contests instead.

What Could Be Better

Although I’ve mentioned a few times about how the contests on Monkey Knife Fight are fairly simple and straightforward, the site doesn’t do the greatest job of explaining how things work to new players. There are game tutorials inside the MKF HQ tab in the sidebar, but it’s not immediately apparent to new users what MKF HQ even is.

On a related note the website itself takes a little getting used to and it’s a bit difficult to navigate at first, but once you know what you’re looking for it’s not too bad to use.

My Overall Impressions of MKF

Overall I’m a fan of Monkey Knife Fight, especially if you’re looking to get a little DFS action in a game, or slate of games, but are short on time. If you like to swing for the fences it’s nice to have the option to play a large player prop parlay for a massive payout as well. Once new users figure out how to play and how the site works, I think MKF’s contests are a fun addition to the daily fantasy sports space.
